Frequently Asked Questions

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers

Whether you’re looking for web design in Doncaster, help with hosting, SEO, or keeping your site up to date, this page covers the most common questions we’re asked. I’ve kept things simple, jargon-free, and to the point — so you can quickly find what you need.

If you have a question that’s not listed here, just get in touch — we’re always happy to help.

Web Design

How much does a website typically cost?

Most brochure-style websites designed to showcase your business and generate enquiries usually fall between £550–£800 depending on size, content and functionality. A typical project starts with a strong home page and builds out from there based on what your business actually needs.

If you need extra features like booking systems, memberships, e-commerce or advanced integrations, these are priced individually based on complexity. Because I build on WordPress, adding new functionality is usually more flexible and affordable than custom development.

If you’re unsure where to start, the easiest first step is a free website & SEO review where I can give clear, honest guidance based on your goals.

Can I make changes to my website once it’s live?

Yes. After launch there’s a short grace period where small tweaks are included, and after that updates are billed in simple time blocks with clear breakdowns. You’ll also be able to make edits yourself if you want — I’m always happy to show you how.

How long will my website take to build?

Most websites take around 3–6 weeks depending on size, content and feedback. I keep the process simple and guide you through each stage so nothing feels overwhelming.

Do I need to provide text and images?

It helps if you have content ready, but it’s not essential. I can assist with structuring your text, improving copy, sourcing images or helping you plan what works best for your audience.

Will my site work on mobiles and tablets?

Absolutely. Every website is fully responsive and built to perform well across mobiles, tablets and desktop devices.

Can we add features later (booking, shop, memberships)?

Yes. Many clients start with a lean website and add features as their business grows. WordPress makes it easy to expand without needing a full rebuild later.

Do you redesign existing websites?

Yes. Sometimes a full rebuild isn’t needed — I can review your current site and suggest improvements first, or migrate it to WordPress for easier management if that’s the better option.

What platform do you build on?

Mainly WordPress, with a focus on performance, security and making things easy for you to manage without technical stress.

Do you work with businesses outside Doncaster?

Yes. I’m based in Doncaster and work with many local businesses across South Yorkshire, but I also support clients across the UK.

SEO & Google

Will my website show up on Google?

Yes. Every site I build follows SEO best practices — fast loading speeds, clean code, on-page basics like titles, meta descriptions, headings, and submission to Google Search Console.

However, it’s important to understand how search works. A brand-new website will usually appear in Google for its own name within a few weeks. For example, if your site is EliteRoofingDoncaster.co.uk, searching for Elite Roofing Doncaster should show your site fairly quickly.

But searching for a more general term like Roofing Doncaster is a different story — that’s a competitive keyword. Ranking on page one for these broader searches usually requires ongoing SEO work at a deeper level, including content creation, local optimisation, and link building.

You can read more about how SEO works (and how I’ve helped clients reach page one) here: SEO Doncaster.

How long does SEO take to work?

Usually 4–8 Months to see movement, depending on competition, content quality, and backlinks. I’ll set realistic milestones and keep you updated.

Do you offer ongoing SEO?

Yes. Monthly plans cover content, technical checks, link building, and reporting — scaled to your goals and budget.

Can you help target Doncaster and nearby areas?

Absolutely. I create location pages and optimise your site for local searches (e.g., Doncaster plus surrounding towns) to improve map and organic visibility.

Do you write blog content for SEO?

Yes — I can plan topics, write posts, and optimise them for the right keywords, then publish them for you. Have a look at  our Blog Content here.

Will you set up tracking and analytics?

Yes. I configure Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, and can add call tracking or form tracking if needed.

Do you add schema (structured data)?

Where useful, yes — things like LocalBusiness, FAQs, and Products to help search engines understand your site and enhance results.  This is a paid add-on feature as part of our SEO packages and not something we would add unless asked for. You can read about local schema in our Schema Blog here

Can you improve my existing Google rankings?

Yes, I’ll audit your site, fix technical issues, refine content, and build authority. Results depend on the niche, but we’ll focus on the quickest wins first. Ask for a Free website review and mention you are interested in SEO. I can take a look at your site and give you some feeback.

What is a Google Business Profile and why does it matter?

It’s your free business listing on Google Maps and in local search. A well-optimised profile helps you appear in the local “map pack,” showcase reviews, and drive calls, messages, and website visits.

Can you set up or fix my Google Business Profile?

Yes. I can claim/verify your profile, tidy categories, add services, hours, photos, and ensure it’s fully optimised for local searches in and around Doncaster.

Do posts and photos really help?

They do. Fresh updates signal activity and can boost engagement. For a simple walkthrough, see my guide: Google Business Profile – a simple guide.

Can you manage reviews and responses for me?

Yes. I can help collect more reviews, draft friendly responses, and highlight them on your site to build trust.

How long before I see results on Maps?

It varies by competition and distance from the searcher. Consistent posts, photos, reviews, and accurate info improve performance over time.

Can you track calls and enquiries from my profile?

Yes. I can add tracking to your website buttons and forms, and report on calls, directions, and clicks from your profile. If you’ve got more questions, get in touch.

Reviews

Can you help me collect more reviews?

Yes — I’ll set up a simple process using your Google Business Profile and follow-up messages so happy customers can leave feedback quickly.

Can you add reviews to my website?

Definitely. I can embed Google reviews or create a testimonials section that matches your branding and helps conversions.

What if I get a negative review?

I can help with a calm, constructive response strategy and encourage more positive reviews to balance things out. Need advice now? Message me.
